Traditional Claddagh Cuff Bracelet
Product Description
The history of the design of the claddagh is disputed, but it is undoubtedly an Irish tradition reaching back at least 300 years and was probably first made near Galway.
There is probably a connection with an Italian Renaissance traditon of 'mani in fede' or hands in faith. Rings were made showing clasped hands indicating the vows of faith in marriage.
The claddagh enhances this motif with the hands holding the heart, and the heart surmounted by a crown representing loyalty or fidelity. This contemporary interpretation of the claddagh reduces the traditional design elements to their simplest form producing a contemporary look for a very ancient, romantic design.
