I bind to myself today:
God's power to guide me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to teach me,
God's eye to watch over me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to give me speech,
God's hand to guide me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to shelter me,
God's host to secure me.
The writing's of St. Patrick appear in many versions. The short prayer engraved in this bracelet has been adapted from the much longer prayer, the Lorica (Latin for armor) better known as the Breastplate of St. Patrick, so called in how it calls for God's protection.
The prayer has been finely engraved onto a bracelet with unusual properties. The geometric form is knows as a Mobius strip, after the German mathematician August Ferdinand Mobius (1790-1868). It represents the seeming paradox of a plane without end, or one of infinite length. As such it became accepted as the symbol for infinity, an appropriate and symbolic form for this famous prayer.
